• Project Update - Stage 2 exhibition completed

    Tuesday 30 September 2025

Concept plans were exhibited from 1 to 29 September 2025 for each section of John Street, 27 John Street, and a Signage and Wayfinding Strategy for Camden.

Submissions received during this time are being reviewed independently and will be reported to Council for consideration.

Thank you for your interest. We look forward to working with all our stakeholders to improve John Street for our current community and future generations.

We're investigating how we can enhance John Street to make it a vibrant, creative, community hub.

As part of the development of the Camden Town Centre Urban Design Framework, people and businesses shared their aspirations for the Camden Town Centre. At this time, John Street was identified as a future creative and community hub for Camden, and improvements to support this vision were identified as a priority project for our community.

Now, thanks to significant funding by the NSW Government's Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program, we are in a position to actively plan for this project, which will see investment in John Street between Broughton and Exeter Streets.

What's happening?

Since the Stage One consultation, Research and Validation in June 2024, we have incorporated the community's feedback and developed draft plans that balance the future use, safety and the history of the street with the ideas and suggestions provided by the community.

We then returned to the community for Stage Two of our community consultation with the draft concept designs for John Street and a draft Signage and Wayfinding Strategy. The aim of this engagement stage was to confirm we had achieved a balance between what was heard in the initial 2024 engagement phase and what we are proposing to deliver.

Public exhibition of concept plans for each section of John Street plus a Signage and Wayfinding Strategy for Camden were exhibited from 1 to 29 September 2025. Submissions received during this time are being reviewed independently and will be reported to Council for consideration.
