Reducing the impacts of flooding on our community

We're looking to construct a flood protection levee along the western side of McCrae Drive, from Saunders Road to Cunningham Place, in Camden South.

Engineering consultants Royal HaskoningDHV have been appointed to investigate options and prepare the initial concept design.

We want to hear from nearby property owners, residents and businesses about:

  • Your experience with flooding;
  • Any concerns or suggestions you have about the construction of a levee; and
  • The environmental considerations and specific features you would like to see incorporated into the levee design.

What does a levee look like?

A natural levee usually looks like a small hill or slope that rises up from the bank of a river or other body of water. These are examples from outside of the Camden LGA.

A flood protection levee along McCrae Drive was a mitigation measure identified in the Nepean River Flood Risk Management Plan 2022.

This project is supported by the NSW Government’s Floodplain Management Program.
