In November 2024, residents and stakeholders were invited to share their vision for 2040, identify current challenges and confirm what they love about the Camden Local Government Area (LGA).
Stage 1 of the strategic planning process, which involved consultations conducted between 8 November and 1 December 2024, has been completed.
The information gathered will be used to update the current Community Strategic Plan and guide Camden Council’s planning, operational and leadership decisions.
The new draft Community Strategic Plan will be publicly exhibited in April or May 2025 and then endorsed by Camden Council by the end of June 2025.
💛 Special thanks to all those people who generously shared their ideas, experiences and knowledge.

The Camden Community Strategic Plan 2036 (CSP) is a long-term plan that captures the community's vision, values, and priorities for the future. The CSP guides the actions and strategies a council will take to achieve the goals the community has set for the Camden LGA's future.
The Community Strategic Plan is reviewed every four years, following a council election. The review allows Camden to strategically plan for its future while remaining responsive to emerging issues. The updated CSP will help Council plan for the next 10 years.
The Community Strategic Plan (CSP) sets a long-term vision for the Camden LGA, addressing key areas such as infrastructure, services, environmental sustainability, and social wellbeing. It guides Council’s decisions and ensures that the needs of the community are reflected in future planning.
Updating the CSP is one of the Local Government legislative requirements. With the Camden LGA's population and demographics evolving rapidly, it is crucial to revisit and update the plan to ensure it reflects the current and future needs of the community while maintaining Camden LGA's unique identity.
Council offered a variety of engagement opportunities in November 2024 including an online survey, design competition, community forum, interviews with local business sectors, pop-up stalls at local events and shopping centres, and workshops with government agencies.
A review of information gathered from community and stakeholders will guide the development of a draft Community Strategic Plan which will be exhibited around April 2025.
Submissions will be invited during the public exhibition period to provide a further opportunity for people to have a say.

Feedback captured in this engagement process will help shape the revised Community Strategic Plan and inform future priority areas, actions and investments.
This consultation period ran between 8 November and 1 December 2024. The revised Community Strategic Plan will be publicly exhibited in April or May 2025 and then endorsed by Camden Council by the end of June 2025.
