People with
disability are people first. We all have a diverse range of interests, experiences and characteristics. Understanding more about people living with impairments will help us to
participate in society on an equal basis.
Curiosity is natural and having questions about disability is also natural.
We invite you to take this opportunity to ask the questions that you are not really comfortable asking.
What can I ask?
Please keep your questions respectful and note that not all questions will be answered. Answers will be given by a person with lived experience.
Example Questions:
- What is the right way to say that someone is disabled?
- Do I need to bend down to talk to someone in a wheelchair?
- How do I talk to a deaf person?
- How do different cultures see or treat disability?
Curious about something? Ask away.
Having questions about disability is natural but it is not always easy to ask a person without feeling awkward or worrying that you will offend them. You can ask your anonymous question(s) below.
