About the draft Western Sydney Regional Affordable Rental Housing Contribution Scheme
The draft Western Sydney Regional Affordable Rental Housing Contribution Scheme (the draft Scheme) has been prepared by the Western Sydney Planning Partnership with the support of economic and planning consultants and with input from Western Sydney councils, including Camden Council.
The draft Scheme aims to provide new affordable rental housing, so people on very-low, low and moderate incomes can choose to live in the Camden community. People on these incomes may include:
- students, apprentices and graduates
- single income families
- pensioners
- essential workers such as nurses, childcare workers, teachers and emergency services workers.
People may need to rent affordable rental housing at different stages of their lives. The draft Scheme proposes to retain affordable rental housing built under this Scheme in perpetuity, so that it is available for existing and future generations.
Affordable rental housing is separate to social housing and private market housing as illustrated below.
