What is this policy about?

Camden Council is seeking your feedback on the revised Fire Safety Policy.

This policy outlines the responsibilities of building owners and the community to help keep our buildings and residents safe from fire. It reflects the latest requirements under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) and related NSW legislation.

Key updates have been made to ensure the policy is clear, up-to-date, and aligned with Council’s current processes for managing fire safety in buildings across the Camden Local Government Area.

Privacy Notification:

The information that Council is collecting from you is personal information for the purposes of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (‘the PPIP Act’) and Council’s Privacy Management Plan. This Privacy Notification outlines how Council collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Purposes of collection: The personal information you provide to Council is being collected for data assessment and report purposes.

Intended recipients: The personal information will be used by Council staff and may be shared publicly, with other media outlets for promotional purposes or as required by law.

Supply: The supply of your personal information is voluntary. If the information is not provided, Council will still be able to consider your submission.

Access/Correction: You have the right to access your personal information held by Council and to request the correction of any inaccurate or incomplete personal information Council holds about you. Council will consider any such application in accordance with the PPIP Act and its Privacy Management Plan.

Submissions received during public exhibition will be reviewed and consideration given to any changes required.

Council Decision

If no unresolved submissions are made, the revised Fire Safety Policy will be adopted effective from the day after the close of the exhibition period.
OR if unresolved submissions are made, Council will be provided with a further report following the exhibition period to review submissions and consider adopting a final Fire Safety Policy.
