Camden Council is renewing the Hill Street Car Park in Camden.

Renewal and upgrade works are planned for the Hill Street Car Park, in Camden (between John Street and Hill Street) to improve the condition, functionality and presentation of the area, while maintaining existing access arrangements for surrounding properties.


What's happening?

The Hill Street Car Park requires renewal to maintain safety and usability. Council will take this opportunity to enhance the layout and environmental outcomes.

Key features of the project include:

  • Renewal of the pavement surface
  • Minor changes to the parking arrangement to improve functionality
  • Improvements to the site’s green strategy, including enhanced landscaping outcomes
  • Line marking and signage improvements
  • Retention of existing standard and disabled parking space numbers
  • Minor stormwater improvements
  • Retention of existing property access arrangements
  • Additional dedicated motorcycle parking spaces

Timing of works

Construction is planned to take place between April and December 2026, subject to weather conditions.

This project is funded through Council's Capital Works Program – Parking renewal and upgrade works.

Yes. Minor changes to parking arrangements are being made to improve functionality. The existing standard and disabled spaces will be retained.

Yes. Five trees need to be removed and will be replaced.

Following consultation and exhibition of the plan, the project team aims to finalise designs, scope works and complete construction between April and December 2026, subject to weather conditions.

Actual start dates will be confirmed and communicated prior to commencement.

Council will aim to minimise disruption to nearby residents, businesses and car park users. Reasonable prior notice will be provided for any required temporary closures, restricted access or traffic impacts.
