It's time to renew our Library Strategy and identify goals for the next few years.

We want to hear your ideas for how to build on our role as community hubs that connect and inspire.

We’re listening throughout February as we celebrate Library Lovers Month and ask:

  • What do you love about our libraries and others?
  • What’s next for libraries? Tell us about any challenges or opportunities you think we should plan for.
  • As libraries change, what should we continue to do?
  • What needs to be adjusted, added or improved?

GET INVOLVED

Details of all the opportunities to participate are provided below and will continue to be updated as we add additional dates and locations.

  • CHAT TO US IN PERSON

We've set up displays at Camden, Narellan and Oran Park libraries asking the same questions as those in the Discussion Forum.

While you're in the library take a moment to read what others have shared and add a post-it note of your own.

Discussion Board

We've set up display boards at each library which ask the following questions.

To participate online you'll need to login or register. This is to ensure the integrity of our consultation, that inappropriate comments are managed and you're added to the incentive prize draw.

🟦Click on the blue 'Read and Contribute' box to add your thoughts to each topic.

What do you love about our libraries? And others?

What keeps you coming back? Have you seen some things at other libraries we could consider? You can upload documents and images to explain your thoughts, comment on what someone else has said and give them a thumbs up if you agree.

What’s next for libraries?

Tell us about any challenges or opportunities you think we should plan for and consider in our next Library Strategy. You can upload documents and images to explain your thoughts, comment on what someone else has said and give them a thumbs up if you agree.

What needs to be adjusted, added or improved?

Thinking about the services and facilities currently provided by Camden, Narellan and Oran Park libraries, what should we consider for our next Library Strategy? You can upload documents and images to explain your thoughts, comment on what someone else has said and give them a thumbs up if you agree.

As libraries change, what should we continue to do?

Change is inevitable but there may be some services and library attributes you'd like to maintain. Your ideas will be used to guide our next Library Strategy. You can upload documents and images to explain your thoughts, comment on what someone else has said and give them a thumbs up if you agree.

About the Project

What's happening?

The Camden Libraries Strategy for 2021 to 2025 was adopted by Camden Council in April 2021.

A review of our Camden Libraries Strategy commenced in the second half of 2025 with internal stakeholder workshops and advisory group meetings.

Consultations for the next strategy (2026-2030) will be held throughout February 2026, including meetings with key user groups, targeted library member engagement and broader community interactions, as we ask:

  • What do you love about our libraries and others?
  • What’s next for libraries? Tell us about any challenges or opportunities you think we should plan for.
  • As libraries change, what should we continue to do?
  • What needs to be adjusted, added or improved?

Our consultations will coincide with Library Lovers’ Month, offering a hybrid model of face-to-face and online engagement techniques to ensure we capture the needs of a variety of community members and groups, staff and key stakeholders via conversation, brainstorming and survey.

The Camden Libraries Strategy for 2021 to 2025 was adopted by Camden Council in April 2021.

Consultation for the current strategy was undertaken in September 2020, amongst the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and concerns. A summary of activities and responses can be read from page 47 in the Camden Libraries Strategic Plan 2021-2025
