Local Approvals Policy

Council’s Local Approvals Policy (‘Policy’) has recently been revised and was on public exhibition for the community to provide feedback. The exhibition period has now closed.

The Policy provides local exemptions from the need for approval for certain activities and outlines the local assessment criteria for those activities where approval is required.

The Policy provides guidance on a number of activities including:

  • Installing a caravan or manufactured home, or operating a caravan or manufactured park or estate
  • Waste management activities which may include skip bins and charity bins
  • Street stalls, events and amusement devices (rides)
  • Community events, busking and markets
  • Cranes and hoardings
  • Outdoor dining
  • Public art and signage

Exhibition period: 2 April to 11 May 2025
