Camden Council is upgrading Macarthur Road.

Camden Council is undertaking renewal and upgrade works along Macarthur Road in Elderslie (from the Bypass to the S-bend) to improve traffic safety, accessibility and the overall road environment.

These works are part of Council’s Asset Management Strategy and respond to community requests and recorded traffic incidents over time.

What's happening?

The Macarthur Road upgrade will include improvements to traffic flow, pedestrian safety, bus stop facilities and general road infrastructure.

Key features of the project include:

  • Upgrading two bus stops, including improved connectivity to footpath facilities and nearby S-bend areas
  • Kerb and gutter works, including linking and aligning existing sections
  • Installing a refuge island and two kerb ramps for safer pedestrian movement across Macarthur Road
  • Extending the footpath, line marking and signage improvements
  • Improving traffic safety at merging points from two lanes to one lane
  • Enhancing safety and traffic flow at the Bypass Intersection
  • Creation of a transition environment from the Bypass to the town centre to slow traffic and improve accessibility
Timing of works

Construction is planned to take place between April and December 2026, subject to weather conditions.
