We appreciate your input on the Kirkham Playspace Renewal. Your feedback during the concept stage helped shape the final design, which is now complete.
The final plan has been prepared which includes:
- Combination play unit
- Double swing set
- Bike-themed springer
- Rubber soft-fall in high wear areas and to improve accessibility
- Seating area and wheelchair accessible picnic setting
- Landscaping and new plantings

Engagement Results
What we heard?
- Play Equipment Preferences: Swings were identified as the most desired feature, followed by slides, and jumping and climbing equipment.
- Top three factors influencing participants' choice of playspace: Variety of play equipment and experiences, availability of shade, and cleanliness.
- Specific suggestions: Fence, shade, safety and accessible
- Supported the new location for the playspace.
What we're doing?
- Play Equipment: Installation of a three-piece play set, including swings, slides, climbing elements, and a sensory play experience.
- Shade: Planting of canopy shade trees to provide shade for the playspace.
- Accessible: Wheelchair-accessible pathway linking the car park to the existing change room building, and wheelchair accessible picnic setting
- Safety: Sandstone block retaining wall with fencing to create a safety barrier between the playspace and the car park.
