In August 2022 we asked the community to complete a survey so we could learn about your riding interests. Here's what we heard...

Where do you currently ride and why?

SURVEY RESPONSES:

Don’t be limited to a mountain bike track, Tahmoor pump track gets a massive work out and Leumeah skate park due to design and locations, they are large enough to handle vast amounts of users

Mount Annan, Kentlyn, Wylde, Appin
Longer trails. Lots of features from green to black diamond

I currently ride my mountain bike around the Australian Botanical Gardens management trails and dedicated mountain bike track. I enjoy the cross country (XC) style of the trail and it is convenient for me as I live in Mt Annan. I also ride Wylde at Western Sydney Parklands and Mill Creek, Lucas Heights.

Mount Annan Gardens. Has a good variety of tracks and is local.

Mt Annan Botanic Gardens MTB trail. Kentlyn. Appin

Mt Annan Botanic Gardens, Camden River and Harrington Park.
I mountain bike because it’s wonderful fitness and close to our natural landscape.

Mt Annan. It's close to home
Wylde - further but more advanced than the gardens.
Glenrock, Awaba, Ourimbah. Much harder tracks but further to travel.

Mount Annan gardens as it’s the only place local otherwise it a big drive to a Track.

Road everywhere, or MTB Blue Mtns, Appin,

Mount Annan botanical gardens, it’s the only legal track in the area

Unfortunately, the only place open or in a state suitable to ride is at Cringilla Hills (Wollongong city council) - your proposed plan is a fantastic idea and will be great to see further developments for all level of off-road mountain bike riders

What kind of track features do you need to help take you from beginner to confident rider?

SURVEY RESPONSES:

Pump tracks are the most recent innovation, my kids love them and spend hours upon hours riding

Higher risk features. It would be confidence inspiring that you are right next to a road if an ambulance needed to be called instead of out in the middle of the bush

Berms, wall rides, step ups, step downs, rollers and small jumps

Burns, table top jumps and a few fast drops into turns. Would love to teach the kids these skills.

Board drops and various size tabletops.

Ensure the trail is wide enough. Ensure it’s checked regularly for fallen trees.
Provide an A and B line. A line being slightly more difficult. Signage clearly displayed for those.
Signage displayed for the direction in which you are to ride.

Plenty of berms, small rock gardens, rollable jumps, small log rides and drop off's.
Progressive jump lines with tabletops and doubles.

Progressive skills and sizes for each of the following table top, small drops, berms, mix of flowy corners or track.
As much track as there is space to maximise riding and spread out riders and features.

Bicycle education facility, kids are riding around streets more than local dirt tracks.

Drops, steep sections, tech, rock features

Well constructed berms, table top jumps, rollers etc
