The worst kept secret – that Camden is a fantastic place to live – has been confirmed, following the release of data from a nationwide survey.

The Liveability Census by PlaceScore, which polled residents of Local Government Areas across the country, found Camden was ahead of the NSW and Australian averages in seven of the nine categories.

The Camden area beat the average on Character, Environmental Sustainability, Movement, Community, Housing & Development, Open Space and Management & Safety.

Most highly noted for the Camden area against the national benchmark was:

• Quality of buildings (design and construction of homes, shops, schools);
• Sustainable urban design (water sensitive design, transport-oriented design, sustainable building design, density);
• General condition of public open space (street trees, footpaths, parks);
• Quality of public space (footpaths, verges, parks); and
• Access and safety of walking, cycling and/or public transport (signage, paths, lighting).
