Submissions are currently sought by Camden Council for Planning Proposal and Draft DCP - PP/2021/10/2 at 229 Macquarie Grove Road, Cobbitty (Mater Dei/Wivenhoe) / A Lee and A McKellar Streets, Cobbitty.

The aim of the Planning Proposal is to apply land use zones that are in keeping with the current uses on the site and to facilitate the separation of the Mater Dei School, Aspect School, Conservation Lands and Convent Precinct onto separate allotments.


Summary of Proposed Amendments

The Planning Proposal seeks to amend the Camden Local Environmental Plan 2010 as follows:

  • Amend the land zoning map to apply C2 Environmental Conservation, RU2 Rural Landscape, RE1 Public Recreation and SP2 Drainage zones across the site.
  • Amend the minimum lot size map to apply a 20 ha and 2 ha minimum lot size for subdivision to land proposed to be zoned RU2 Rural Landscape.
  • Include land proposed to be zoned RE1 Public Recreation and SP2 Drainage on the Land Reservation Acquisition (LRA) map.
  • Amend Clause 5.1 to include Camden Council as the acquisition authority for land mapped on the LRA map.
  • Amend Schedule 5 of the Camden Development Control Plan 2019 (DCP) to support the proposal.


Background Information

The Proposal was endorsed by Council on 8 November 2022 and then again on 11 July 2023 in an amended form following advice from the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE).

DPE issued a Gateway Determination on 30 August 2023 for the proposal to proceed to public exhbition.

Submissions received during public exhbition will be considered by Council officers and a further report to Council may be required.
