Submissions are currently sought by Camden Council for Planning Proposal PP/2021/4/1 to rezone land within the Pondicherry Precinct
Summary of Proposed Amendments
This Planning Proposal seeks to make amendments to:
- State Environmental Planning Policy (Precincts - Western Parkland City) 2021
- Camden Growth Centre Precincts Development Control Plan (Schedule 7 - Pondicherry Precinct)
- Oran Park Development Control Plan
The proposal seeks to rezone Pondicherry from RU1 Primary Production under the Camden Local Environmental Plan 2010 (Camden LEP 2010) to R2 Low Density Residential, R3 Medium Density Residential, B1 Neighbourhood Centre, RE1 Public Recreation, SP2 Infrastructure and C2 Environmental Conservation under the State Environmental Planning Policy (Precincts – Western Parkland City) 2021 (Precincts SEPP).
The proposal is accompanied by amendments to Schedule 7 of the Camden Growth Centre Precincts Development Control Plan (DCP). The amendments include an Indicative Layout Plan (ILP), site specific figures and associated controls for Pondicherry.
Amendments are also proposed to the Oran Park DCP (Through a revised ILP) and SEPP maps to address interface and integration issues between the Oran Park and Pondicherry Precincts.
Background Information
At its meeting on 13 December 2022, Council resolved to forward the draft Planning Proposal to the then Department of Planning and Environment for Gateway Determination and following receipt of a Gateway Determination, to publicly exhibit the draft Planning Proposal and draft Camden Growth Centre Precincts Development Control Plan (DCP) and Oran Park DCP.
On 24 July 2023, Council received Gateway Determination for the Planning Proposal.
Public Exhibition Period
The Planning Proposal and supporting DCP amendments are on public exhibition from Monday 8 April 2024 to Monday 6 May 2024.

Hard copies of the Planning Proposal are also available for viewing at Council’s Oran Park Administration Building and the Camden, Narellan and Oran Park Libraries.
